When we are honest, we enter Advent weary. Weary from newsfeeds and policies that promote cruelty over compassion. Weary from the weight of division and despair. Into this world, the cry of O Holy Night echoes again: “A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices.” Advent invites us to name our weary reality as it proclaims that Christ comes with hope, love, joy, and peace, breaking through the shadows with light.
Each week, we will hear not only the ancient promises of scripture but also the living witness of UMCG’s mission partners, whose work embodies the Good News in weary places. Together, we will rejoice because God’s light still shines, and the darkness cannot overcome it.
