UMC of Geneva celebrated our 185th Anniversary September 27-29!

An Evening of Homecoming & History
Friday, September 27 from 5-7:30pm

We were joined by beloved clergy and staff that have served United Methodist Church of Geneva over the years! It was a joyous homecoming and reunion!

At 6pm hosted a special program that included a history snapshot of the church, recognition of church members and clergy and a proclamation from Mayor Kevin Burns. This program. You will find the service on our Online Worship Page.

Throughout the building we had a history exhibit that celebrated many areas of our ministry with displays and videos for people to check out.

Community Block Party and Open House
Saturday, September 28 from 12-4pm

This was truly fun for all ages! We had food trucks, a bounce house, face-painter, scavenger hunt and photo booth and so much more. People toured the church, Memorial Gardens and learned about our stained glass windows as well as viewed the history displays.

Celebration Worship Service and Reception
Sunday, September 29 9am-12pm

Bishop Schwerin presided over our service. Our Director of Music Scott Stevenson’s new arrangement of “What Gift Can We Bring, ” written especially for this occasion was performed by our Chancel Choir, Sanctuary Ringers and Howard Clark III on organ, with Stevenson conducting. After the service we took an all-congregation picture and a had reception celebrating our 185 years in Geneva!
