SERVE THE COMMUNITY

We reach out to others, serving in our local community:

Annual Sock Hop – Collects new socks for the homeless at Christmastime.

Habitat for Humanity – Work on building or remodeling local homes. Check Sign-Ups page for volunteer oppportunities.

Hesed House – Volunteer for one of three 4-hour shifts to serve supper, distribute supplies, monitor dormitories, or serve breakfast once a month. Check Sign-Ups page to volunteer.

Holy Casserolers – Prepares large meals for Hessed House residents monthly.

Illinois Youth Center Horticulture Team – assist with landscaping projects developed jointly with IYC staff and residents.

Lazarus House – Volunteer to spend the night at this local shelter – needed twice a month.

Mats for the Homeless – Meets once a week to turn plastic grocery bags into mats for homeless folks.

Neighbor Project in Aurora – assists families to become first-time home buyers.

Northern Illinois Food Bank – We organize group trips to help pack food.

Rummage and Bake Sales – Twice a year – spring and fall – we hold large rummage and bake sales offering low-priced home goods, clothing and more to those in our area. Proceeds go to a variety of charities.

Support Groups – Memory Loss Caregivers, Alcoholics Anonymous, Grief Support, La Leche League, and Tri City Single Mom’s group.

Swedish Days Food Booth – Organized by the Men’s Club and runs during the June festival in Geneva. Money goes to missions.
