The FLOW campaign is a two-year effort to renew the historic 1874 portion of our church building so that worship, community life, and outreach ministries can continue for generations to come.
This project addresses important structural repairs while also improving accessibility and renewing key gathering spaces for ministry.
Some of the most significant needs are structural. Portions of the original garden level foundation have deteriorated and must be replaced to ensure the long-term safety and stability of the building.
Addressing these repairs now allows us to act responsibly before the issues become more costly and disruptive.
The project also allows us to improve accessibility and renew spaces that support hospitality, community gatherings, and ministry.
The project focuses on two primary areas:
Garden Level
A flexible multipurpose space for small groups, classes, meetings, and community partners. It will also include an accessible restroom, quiet room, storage, and serving counter.
Fellowship Hall
Updates will include removing underused balcony seating, creating a small stage for presentations and music, relocating the coffee bar for improved hospitality, fixing the ceiling, upgrading lighting, flooring, A/V and acoustics.
The estimated cost is $1.3–$1.5 million, which reflects the structural work required as well as construction and renovation costs.
The project will be funded through a two-year capital campaign (2026–2027).
The church plans to temporarily finance the project using the UMG Fund and then repay those funds through campaign commitments.
This approach avoids long-term debt and interest costs.
The preferred timeline is:
The anticipated timeline is:
May 2026 – demolition and construction begin
Summer–Fall 2026 – renovation underway
Early 2027 – project completion
Yes.
Most areas of the building will remain available, including:
• Sanctuary
• Classrooms
• Parlor and kitchen
• Music room
• Elevator access
During construction, Fellowship Hall and the Garden Level will be temporarily unavailable.
We are already planning creative alternatives for events typically held in those spaces.
Everyone is invited to participate in a way that feels meaningful and faithful.
Participation may include:
• Prayer
• Volunteering on project teams
• Pledge to give financial gifts to the campaign
People may choose to support the financially campaign through:
• One-time gifts
• Monthly or annual gifts
• Gifts of appreciated stock
• Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) from IRAs
• Gifts in honor or memory of loved ones
We are requesting that commitments be fulfilled within two years.
No.
Many participants make two-year commitments, allowing gifts to be fulfilled gradually over time.
Campaign progress and construction updates will be shared regularly through:
• Worship announcements
• Email updates
• Campaign website updates
• Video progress reports
Several volunteer teams are helping lead different parts of the project, including construction oversight, communications, hospitality design, and campaign leadership.
These teams help ensure the project moves forward thoughtfully and transparently.
