A Journey with the Psalms for Holy Week

“Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? … Those who have clean hands and pure hearts.”
—Psalm 24:3–4

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”
—Psalm 27:1

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits… more than those who watch for the morning.”
—Psalm 130:5–6

Holy Wednesday is quieter. The story doesn’t linger here long, but we know something is unfolding. Betrayal is taking shape beneath the surface. We don’t always know what to do with days like that.

I don’t know about you, but I prefer clarity. Movement. Resolution. But much of life with God happens in the in-between where nothing seems to be happening, and yet everything is. Waiting asks us to trust without seeing.

So today, we don’t rush ahead. We simply sit in God’s presence: I’m here. I’m listening. I’m waiting.

“What shall I return to the Lord for all his bounty to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation…”
—Psalm 116:12–13

Thursday brings us to the table. Jesus kneels to wash feet. Bread is broken. The cup is shared. Love takes on a shape we can see and touch. It’s not abstract. It serves.

Love, in the way of Jesus, shows up in ordinary, tangible ways: a meal, a gesture, a moment of presence. Gratitude becomes more than a feeling. It becomes a response.

So today we ask:
How can love take shape in our lives?

God, help us receive your love and share it freely.

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
—Psalm 22:1

“I am still and quiet; like a weaned child with its mother…”
—Psalm 131:2
